We are all now so surrounded by reels, shorts, videos and films that we forget film is a very young medium. A powerful medium of expression that is barely 100 years old. Compared with over 10,000 years of painting, music, poetry, and theatre, film is just a baby born yesterday.

The rules of filmmaking are still being discovered and refined. If you compare it to painting, we are the cavemen using stones to scratch stick figures on walls. This is also why there is yet no standardised way to teach film direction.

The art form itself is still evolving, and so is the way we pass on the knowledge of its craft. This is what makes filmmaking so exciting to me. We are just getting started.
