Following is song I wrote exploring late night regret about past choices and slowly accepting the present moment at 3 in the morning.
Or you can listen to the song on Udio.
Steady – Lyrics
[Verse]
Three in the morning,
Pictures of her wedding.
Had told me she was single.
Guess I didn’t read it right.
[Verse]
Grateful,
I definitely am.
Yet sometimes I wonder,
Did I let the right one go?
[Chorus]
I walked away from steady
For something I can’t see yet.
Did I miss my chance?
Or is the feeling itself the lie?
[Verse]
Fourteen years on a road less paid.
Still writing songs nobody asked for.
Some days doubt weighs more than faith.
But I’m still here. Aren’t I?
[Chorus]
I walked away from steady
For something I can’t see yet.
Did I miss my chance?
Or is the feeling itself the lie?
[Bridge]
Do the married lie awake like this?
Or their roads not ask them to?
So does time decide what’s right or wrong?
Or what is — is. Is.
[Outro]
A faint tingling in my feet.
Cool air through my nose.
A dull ache resting in my chest.
A distant song grazing my ears.
[Outro]
The mattress steady beneath my back.
Ohh
And that is all there is.
All there ever is.
[End]
This was such a fun exercise in writing. What started as a late night regret rant about past choices over the course some 10 hours, working with AI for the lyrics as well the song, turned into a little hopeful country song.
My previous attempt at doing something similar 9 months back wasn’t that good. You can listen to that here. You can read another poem on similar lines here or see a list of all of my other scribbled poems here.
What do you think? Have you tried writing lyrics of your own and turning it into a song using AI?
